Flowers in Winter at Shaw's Garden

The Missouri Botanical (Shaw's) Garden in Saint Louis is well-known for its beautiful floral displays.

But this is a typical scene at the Garden in wintertime: frozen ponds.

But if you look closely, you may find some blooms outdoors, even in the dead of winter. These are witch hazel blossoms, in February! But we must flee inside the greenhouses for a more spectacular display of color.

  1. This reminds me of a writer who lived near Philadelphia. He had a beautiful garden and prided himself on having something blooming every month of the year.
